Since we are talking easter, I made some of the vintage book page eggs that have been all over blogland. So happy to cover all those garish plastic eggs and have something natural....
I KNEW I needed some moss BUT it's already at the shop, so I had to purchase more because it looks so much better...

Where oh where has my lil blog gone?

Oh where oh where can it be? My goal has been to do a post a day (as there are LOTS of projects underway). I've been VERY busy lately...more details to follow soon BUT in the mean time here are a couple hints....

Burlap MONOGRAM "Wreath"

Awhile ago I saw a burlap wreath on Tatertots and Jello's blog and have been wanting to make my own Monogram version! After WAY TOO MUCH procrastination I finished it this past weekend! (and sadly I had all the materials on hand, I was just nervous...silly, huh?!?)
I'm a MORE is MORE girl, so I couldn't simply leave the 'S' as it was....nope, had to add this....
So easy to make! All ya need is: Wire hanger Wire cutters Burlap Ribbon of your choice to hang Simply untwist the wire hanger, mold into the shape you'd like (this is the most difficult part), cut burlap into 3" wide strips (mine were about 2 feet long) and weave onto the hanger). Snip off any excess wire with your wire cutters, cut ribbon as long as ya'd like(make sure you leave extra for tying the bow) and hang! I am linking up to

Sweet Salvation

I don't know about your Goodwill BUT mine's getting expensive. I feel bad even typing that because I KNOW it's for a good cause BUT when items that used to be .99 are now marked 2.99, that's a difference. There is new management at my local Goodwill and along with more expensive prices, the customers can no longer handle the case items, so I spend 5 minutes trying to explain the item I'd like handed to me, simply to take a closer look. Ok, enough complaining already (it's just that I am there at least 3x a week, so it begins to grate on ones nerves). BUT WAIT, I remember I have a Salvation Army 20 minutes away....haven't been there in about 5 months, maybe it's time to go back! I WISH I would've taken a pic of my overflowing cart. Maya says "Mommy, you're gonna have to put some of that stuff back, it's gonna be like $150.00" I replied "just wait and see". Checkout - $58 and some change! Maya was SHOCKED! I got some the the GREATEST finds! Vintage wooden hangers from various Chicagoland hotels and businesses that are no longer, a Miami Steamship wooden hanger and a lot of 20 wooden childrens hangers for .90! Now that's what I'm talkin about! I got this....
I have been on the hunt for one of these bad birds for several months! For $3.45 I am now the proud owner of her! I also got these....
I LOVE that someone took the time to paint and glitter these cardboard stars! Very soon you will see them in a FAB project...stay tuned! When I found them, this is what I saw....

Glimpses of Home

This is my nightstand (which happens to be a lil vintage dresser that my daughter used up until about 2 years ago when outgrew it {ie her CLOTHES got too big for the drawers} ). This represents a glimpse into my home because after the kids are in bed, I retreat to the bedroom and peruse through the books you see in the picture, journal or surf the web!

Mary Mary Quite Contrary.....

.....how does your garden grow? I am getting the spring fever itch! So I thought it might be fun for the kids and I to get a head start in our seeds indoors. We went and they each picked 4 packs of seeds(mind you this was 4 weeks ago). Today when we went to "plant" them, there are several that you sow directly int he ground after the frost frost (cucumbers, squash, carrots and lettuce) I realize I am NOT making the farmers proud by being such a dingbat when it comes to seeds! So we had 3 left we were going to sow indoors: pumpkin (which you're supposed to sow directly in the ground as well BUT my little guy was very anxious to get planting) eggplant and tomato. We started with this...
We are trying something different this year. Every year I plant my seeds and the lil seedlings get all wimpy and die BEFORE they even make it outdoors. SO I am trying them on damp paper towels (I got this idea from my son's pre-school class) and once we get some nice hearty sprouts we will transplant into dirt.
First we used a spray bottle to wet our folded paper towel (I like Bounty....they're a lil thicker than some others)
Then we placed our seeds on top of the damp paper towels....now we wait :) I'll keep y'all updated on whether this method proves to be a success or a flop! I am longing for these...

But as any decorating blogger would do, I transformed it into this...
Bought the silver piece at Goodwill LONG ago and was using it in the pantry to store smalls (1/2 a bag of this, some of that, you know what I'm talking about).
Of course there isn't any drainage so I added these....
VIOLA!
Hmmmm, maybe planting on the counter wasn't the "neatest" idea! It's a nice grey rainy day here in the Southwest Burbs of Chicago....have some candles lit, enjoying the sound of the rain hitting the windows and I' off to explore some of my favorite blogs!
